Pondicherry to Chowki Dhani,Chennai

Chowki Dhani in Chennai opens at 4pm and closes at 10 Pm. 

It comes to Chennai-Banglore highway. 2km far from the Queens land amusement park.

It's a good place to hang out. You will enjoy only if you in a group, otherwise you will be bored :P. However, its not good as the Jaipur one. But it is quite ok to visit, to treat your taste buds with  Rajasthani food and to live a full day in  Rajasthani istyleee..

I will rate it as 3.5/5

You can reach there by following ways

1) Just book a cab for full day directly from Pondicherry to Chennai, it's easier but will cost you more.

2) Take a local  bus to Chennai main bus stand Koyambedu. 

Then from there you hire a cab directly to Chowki Dhani, it is 25 kms exactly from the main bus stand , in Chennai- Banglore highway road. It will come after 2 kms of the Queens land amusement park, to left hand side.

At night also you need to book a cab/taxi before hand only, as local buses and autos are may not be available there.

3) In return , if you are lucky enough,you can get a local bus from the main road in the night ,which will drop you to Ponammale , from Ponammale you can go to Koyambedu through auto or local bus.

Chennai airport to Pondicherry

Chennai to Pondicherry is approx 150 km. Takes 3-4 hours usually. Here are the following options .

    1)   Just outside the airport, when you come out of it, in the main road, there in the opposite lane 200mt toward south you will find a local railway station (Tirusulam). Take a ticket to Guindy (5rs) and get into the train after your 3 stations,  Guindy will come . Then ask for the directions and reach the bus stand of Guindy , from there it’s in walking distance only . Now you can directly get a bus to Pondicherry.

     

     2)  Same after coming outside the airport in the opposite lane toward south go to the 2^nd traffic signal ( 400mt approx.),near that signal you will get the direct bus to Pondicherry or get a bus to Tindivanam from there also you can get a bus to Pondicherry.

          

     3)  Get an auto directly to thiruvanmiyur , tambaram or to Guindy and then from there you will get a direct bus to Pondicherry.

 The main bus stand of Chennai (koyembedu) is very far from the airport. So never go there, instead get the bus from in-betweens. As you will get a bus to Pondicherry in every hour- 24hrs available. 

4) Soon, metro train service will start like in Delhi , then we can go to koyambedu by metro & can get a bus to Pondicherry.

Chennai Railway station to Pondicherry

Chennai to Pondicherry is approx 150 km. Takes 3-4 hours usually.Here are the following options.

1.       When come outside the Chennai central railway station (MAS) . In the opposite lane get a local bus no. 15B and reach the bus stand Koyembedu . From there you will get direct bus to Pondicherry.

To Pondicherry you will get bus very frequently 24 hours available. It's approx. 3- 4 hours journey from Chennai to Pondicherry

2.       Get an auto or local bus to thiruvanmiyur, tambram & get a bus to Pondicherry

3.  You get a direct train to Pondicherry from the Chennai railway station. Make prior reservations or get a general ticket , as it is less crowded.

Pondicherry to Chennai Airport

Pondicherry to Chennai is approx 150 km. Takes 3-4 hours usually. Here are the following options .

You will get govt. normal & AC buses available 24hrs from Pondicherry bus stand to Chennai either going through east coast road(ECR) or through Bypass route.

   1)    If You are lucky,then at night you get direct bus to the airport from the Pondicherry Bus stand

    

   2) If you are going to reach in between (8am-9pm) then take a bus to Chennai which goes through Bypass route. Then get down in perungalathur bus stop. From there you will get a direct local bus to the airport (12rs)

    3) If you will reach there in the late night in Chennai (when the local bus won’t be available), then get down at Guindy and from there take an auto or a bus to the airport.)

Pondicherry to Chennai railway station

Pondicherry to Chennai is approx 150 km. Takes 3-4 hours usually.Here are the following options you can choose to travel.

1) You will get govt. Normal & AC buses available 24hrs from Pondicherry bus stand to Chennai either going through east coast road (ECR) or through Bypass route. AC buses are more comfortable as it does not stop in between, while normal bus will.

     Get into any bus to Chennai irrespective of their route (ECR/bypass). They all will reach Chennai main bus stand (Koyembedu), from there inside the bus stand only you will get a local bus (no. 15B), available in every 15min for 24hrs to Chennai central /Chennai Egmore railway station.

    2) Direct train to Chennai central could be caught from the Pondicherry railway station. Available 24 hours, Make a prior booking or direct general ticket could be bought from the station as it is very less crowded.
